In July 2010, Illinois State University established the Office of Sustainability in Normal, Illinois. Currently our office directs ISU sustainability efforts on and off campus through collaboration with faculty, staff, and students, and we serve as a centralized portal for all related information. Our office provides guidance on incorporating environmental, economic, and social responsibility into the University’s operations, outreach, and academic programming.

We are proud of our many accomplishments that have helped to make our university a healthier campus for generations to come.  We have assisted on such projects as:

  • Food waste composting
  • Alternative transportation efforts
  • Biodiesel production to be used in campus fleets
  • Recycling efforts
  • Energy conservation
  • Student Sustainability Fund (providing funding to sustainability-focused projects created by ISU students, faculty, and staff)
  • Environmental Stewardship Award
